A suspect has been arrested, and three people suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed inside a casino in New Westminster overnight.
The New Westminster Police Department says it responded to a 911 call about the stabbing just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a restaurant inside the Starlight Casino.
The three victims were given first aid at the scene and then taken to hospital.
“Police learned that an altercation took place between two groups of people on the patio of the restaurant inside the Starlight Casino,” police said in a news release.
“Two groups of people who were not known to each other … became involved in a fight with edged weapons.”
Police say one suspect was arrested at the scene, and they are working to identify and find other suspects.
“At this time, we believe this is an isolated incident,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver.
